ACRYLIC PAINTINGS What is acrylic paint?
I describe acrylics as being "Plasticy" due to the fact they are made with a synthetic resin. Acrylics dry faster than oil paints so the method of applying paint is slightly different. A wide range of brilliant colors and textures are able to be produced.
OIL PAINTINGS What is an oil paint?
I often describe oil paints as being "Meaty". Oil paints have more pigment in them, allowing for richer, more vivid colors. The pigments are suspended in natural oils, so the paint dries very slowly and allows for a variety of effects from transparent glazes to thick layers.
